About Us
Our Simple Beginnings
TSG Distributors, Inc,. (Tank Safety Gauge) was established in 1991 and it began one day when my wife and I were shopping at the grocery store, I ran into a friend of mine, Mike Skalisky, who worked for Fina Oil Company as a lease operator ‘pumper’. As we talked, he told me he had a patent idea of a visual outside gauging system. Mike informed me that he had made crude prototypes and had installed them on several of his oil and water tanks. The good news was they worked which would provide safety, accuracy and dependability. This innovation prevented the preexisting climbing on the tank, being exposed to gases into the air, and the usage of a tape measuring system inside the tank. Using these gauges showed the conveniences and again the safety issue of inclement weather, etc. Gauges could be read from the truck safer, faster and accurately.

From Prototype To Patent
After meeting, changes were discussed to upgrade the materials and provide the end users the best quality gauging system. One more longtime friend was brought into the company, Wayne Basden, and we formed TSG Inc. The patent application was sent to the patent attorneys. The patent was approved in 6 months and production began…in a garage. Sales, marketing and accounting were established in an office building.

Norma, my wife, worked for Meridian Oil (later purchased by Burlington Resources) and had mentioned the benefits of the gauges to management. They asked for a meeting and demonstration and soon started purchasing the gauges. We sold our first gauges within 30 days and began receiving phone calls and meeting with other companies and grew from there. The sale of gauges was on their way. More companies followed, and we continued to increase our market share with major and minor independent oil companies.

To The Company TSG Is Today
Later in 1993, Wayne Basden wanted to retire and a new partner, Stan Partee, was brought into the company. In 2008, due to cancer, Mike Skalisky passed. We, the remaining partners purchased his interest in the company.

In 2002, my wife, Norma and I purchased the company and we continued to expand the business.

Our main goal is still the same…...taking pride in our product and excellent customer service. Should we be able to assist you, please feel free to give us a call in regard to questions and/or quotes on your specific applications.
